Propaganda Foundation was established in 2009 as a result of our urge to find new methods of working in culture. Our first steps were focused around Propaganda art gallery (former appendix2), which is well known and important brand on Polish art-scene. Starting from organization of exhibition and trading art, we look much further ahead. We realize and participate in projects on the crossroads of different genres: art, theatre, film and civil education. However, our projects always have one thing in common – they are widening the possibilities of perception of modern art and they get out from a strictly gallery-like context of art perception.
Simultaneously, in the basement of our office and gallery space, we created a studio for artists. It is located in the very center of Warsaw, on Foksal 11, so it is convenient for artist sto use the space for photography, video production, but also to make sieve-prints, as we have machine for it, to set up easels, chisels and other tools for different types of art. This multi-functioning of our space allows us to have “artists in residence” program and makes our office a very vibrant place. Artist work in our place, and thanks to that art is not only the subject of presentation, but also real and authentic work and fascination.
We are open to cooperation and we love challenges. We enjoy experiments and any activity that derives from a true creative need. We treat our work as a wide production management, promotion and curatorial support of artistic initiatives. Right now we cooperate with six young artists, who work in our space and participate in our projects. Propaganda also tries to establish new standards when it comes to promoting and documenting the culture, as well as artistic education and art-book publishing. Thanks to our space on Foksal 11 – in the centre of Warsaw, our activities are not only popular but also have spectacular setting.
